Birding and photography experience exploring wetlands, forests, and riparian habitats—some of Northern Sweden’s most biodiverse ecosystems
Hi, I’m Fraser, a passionate birder, wildlife photographer, and nature enthusiast based in Northern Sweden.
These tours offer the opportunity to experience the incredible birds, wildlife, and landscapes that make Northern Sweden so special. Designed for nature enthusiasts of all experience levels, each tour is relaxed, informative, and tailored to your interests. From ancient forests and wetlands to coastal landscapes, these areas support a remarkable diversity of birdlife and provide exceptional opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.
Before moving to Sweden, I was based in Southern Africa for 16 years. During that time, my creative work included collaborations with a range of conservation initiatives, giving me the opportunity to contribute to wildlife conservation projects while developing my skills in wildlife photography and storytelling.
Alongside guiding, I am studying Ecology and Conservation Management and continually expanding my knowledge of wildlife, ecology, and conservation.

With a maximum of 3 participants, this small-group tour ensures comfort and flexibility. In addition to birding, there will be opportunities to photograph stunning Midnight Sun landscapes and, with a bit of luck, encounter some of the region’s iconic mammals, including Moose and Reindeer.
The tour lasts approximately 6 hours and is between the towns of Boliden and Norsjö, and can be scheduled either in the morning or evening, allowing us to experience peak activity periods for many birds while enjoying the unique light and atmosphere of the northern summer.
Tea, coffee, still and sparkling water, and a Midnight Fika are included, providing the perfect opportunity to relax, refresh, and enjoy the landscape during our journey.
Tour Information
● Collection and return transport from Skellefteå, or other location within a reasonable range of Boliden.
● Travel between birding locations in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle.
● Tea, coffee, still and sparkling water, and a Midnight Fika enjoyed beneath the Midnight Sun, featuring a shared platter of local cheeses, preserves, fresh breads, regional specialities, and sweet treats that celebrate the culinary heritage of northern Sweden.
● Bird, wildlife, and landscape photography tuition.
● A list of likely bird species will be provided before the tour, and a complete bird list will be supplied at the end of the excursion.
● This is a mobile birding and photography tour designed to maximise time in the field, with travel between carefully selected locations and short walks where necessary to access key habitats and photographic opportunities.
● This tour welcomes birders, photographers, and nature enthusiasts of all experience levels, but is particularly well suited to those beginning their birding or nature photography journey and looking to build confidence in the field.

Our tour starts in Boliden, Northern Sweden. You can easily reach us by car, or fly into Skellefteå Airport, which is around 45 minutes away. We’ll provide detailed meeting instructions after your booking and are happy to help you plan your journey.
Not at all! Our tours are suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced birders. We adapt the tour to your interests and experience level.
The species vary with the season, but Northern Sweden is home to iconic birds such as Siberian Jay, Capercaillie, Woodpeckers, owls, and many migratory species. While sightings can’t be guaranteed, our local knowledge gives you the best chance of finding them.
Most of the tour involves easy to moderate walking on forest trails and gravel roads. We will also visit sites that are partly waterlogged. Waterproof footwear is advisable.
We recommend comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy walking shoes, and binoculars. As well as a camera and telephoto lens if possible. The weather in Northern Sweden can change quickly so appropriate warm and or rain gear is advisable.
